According to a recen research, grapefruit is a powerful diet food. This study had revealed that women who consumed amount of grapefruit juice weighed nearly less than 10 pounds and also had 6% lower body mass index (BMI) than non-grapefruit users.

Researchers aren't actually sure what makes this fruit a powerful weight loss food, but according to a study at the University of Florida, it could be that it is due to its high water content, which when you take it helps you feel fuller and more satisfied with just on fewer calories. A half of a medium - sized grapefruit or an 8-oz. glass of its juice has fewer than 100 calories each. It is also rich in Vitamin C, potassium and magnesium.

In order to get the full benefits, the study suggests to have an intake of the fruit or juice part of your daily diet. If you're not a grapefruit lover, water rich foods such as water melon and cucumber could have similar effects.
